Shin Kong Life's ESG program wins Sustainable Impact Award

Shin Kong Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (2888) subsidiary Shin Kong Life participated in the Taiwan Sustainable Creativity Index "2023 7th CIRC Sustainable Impact Awards." The "Shin Kong One-Acre Happiness Dining Table" and the "Wealth Guardian Board Game Course" respectively received the "Special Award" and "Selected" in the Corporate Sustainability Group, demonstrating Shin Kong Life's impact in creating innovative sustainable dining solutions and promoting financial education. This initiative aims to promote social sustainability, establish good corporate models, and earn recognition from the judging panel.

The "Shin Kong One-Acre Happiness Dining Table" originated between 1999 and 2007 when Taiwan faced several instances of imbalanced production and distribution of agricultural products, resulting in significant waste and economic losses for farmers.

Shin Kong Life, empathizing with the plight of farmers and aiming to establish a comprehensive safety net for all citizens, launched the "From Farm to Table" initiative to reduce food transportation losses, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This led to the establishment of the "Shin Kong One-Acre Happiness Dining Table" project, providing venues and marketing resources free of charge, creating Shin Kong Farmers' Markets, stabilizing farmers' incomes, promoting organic farming, and conducting food and agricultural education. This initiative aims to create a sustainable dining ecosystem where farmers are supported, and consumers choose green consumption.

Additionally, Shin Kong Life encourages Shin Kong Farmers to participate in food bank initiatives, donating high-quality perishable food items to help the vulnerable. The goal is to continue promoting "sustainable dining," hoping that the impact of one acre can influence thousands of acres, allowing people in Taiwan to enjoy a good environment, good health, and good relationships, creating a socially sustainable and inclusive society.

For many, finance is a part of daily life. However, in remote areas, resources for financial education are lacking, and most teachers have limited emphasis on financial education. To strengthen the protection of vulnerable financial consumers and focus on the insurance rights of young people, Shin Kong Life collaborated with the Cultural Content Strategy Institute to develop the "Wealth Guardian" board game course in partnership with the TungNiao Social Enterprise. This innovative approach uses gaming mechanisms to promote financial education, reaching rural elementary schools with easy-to-understand language, allowing students to learn while playing, and creating a more robust and equitable financial ecosystem, realizing the concept of sustainable corporate operations and inclusive finance.

The "Wealth Guardian" board game incorporates "insurance event cards" depicting real fraud scenarios to create anti-fraud situations. Students combine their roles in the board game with probability games using dice, making learning interactive and fun, and helping students understand how insurance provides personal risk resistance. They also learn to avoid becoming victims of fraud by not indiscriminately giving cash, personal information, etc., to others, thus promoting fraud prevention knowledge. Additionally, the teaching aids used in the board game course are made from recycled materials, giving them a sustainable meaning.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Shin Kong Life. Winning the "Sustainable Impact Award" is both an affirmation and a responsibility. In the future, Shin Kong Life will continue to focus on social issues, implement ESG practices, expand its social impact, and embody the corporate brand spirit of "Where there is light, every expectation is realized".
