Shin Kong Life receives ISO 14067 Certification

Shin Kong Life has long been committed to ESG, incorporating low-carbon principles into daily operations to shape a green corporate culture. Recently, the customer service counter at the New Taipei City branch received ISO 14067 certification for carbon footprint in counter services. Certification ceremony held on November 1 marked it as the insurance industry's operation point with the lowest carbon footprint emissions. This achievement signifies Shin Kong Life's establishment of a new standard for green customer service, actively fulfilling its commitment to social and environmental sustainable development, earning recognition from professional organizations.

ISO 14067 carbon footprint certification is an international standard used to assess the carbon footprint generated by a company's products or services. It establishes consistent specifications and calculation methods for greenhouse gas emissions during the lifecycle of products or services. The New Taipei customer service counter of Shin Kong Life, verified by the British Standards Institution (BSI), emits only 0.78 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent per service person during the lifecycle of life insurance services. This reflects Shin Kong Life's dedication to providing comprehensive and environmentally friendly insurance services.

Shin Kong Life notes the significant increase in global greenhouse gas emissions leading to global warming and frequent extreme weather events. With net-zero emissions becoming a global trend, Shin Kong Life accepts the responsibility of environmental stewardship. The company has defined internal carbon pricing, manages carbon costs and reduction efficiency to lower its overall carbon emissions. In recent years, it has obtained certifications such as ISO 50001 Energy Management System, ISO 14046 Water Footprint Standard, and ISO 14064-1:2018 Greenhouse Gas Inventory Operations. Additionally, Shin Kong Life completed the digitization of its counters this year, promoting digital documents, electronic communication, and e-policies to save resources, reduce paper consumption, and waste generation. The company aims to collaborate with policyholders to promote green finance, actively respond to global climate actions, and collectively safeguard the Earth.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Shin Kong Life will continue to indorse the sustainable principles of "Low Carbon, Innovation, and Mutual Benefit," ensuring prudent management, leveraging core corporate capabilities, and actively implementing various ESG initiatives. The company remains committed to fair customer treatment, providing quality financial and insurance services to meet customer protection needs, and progressing towards sustainable corporate.
