Shin Kong Life continuously supported the Ten-Thousands-People swim across Sun Moon Lake for 17 years

Annual International Swimming Event, the "2023 Sun Moon Lake International Ten Thousand People Swimming Event," took place on September 24th. In line with this year's pandemic easing and the opening of borders, normal registrations were fully restored, and it reached full capacity within four days. Shin Kong Life Insurance, committed to local contributions and promoting sports tourism for the past 17 years, continued its partnership with Nantou County Government for the Sun Moon Lake Ten Thousand People Swimming Event. Mr. Huang Min-Yi, the General Manager of Shin Kong Life Insurance, was invited to participate in the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, showing support for grassroots sports and local tourism through practical actions.

The Ten Thousand People Swimming Event is the most historic and large-scale event at Sun Moon Lake. Since its inception in 1983, swimmers from around the world gather at Sun Moon Lake to swim from Chaowu Pier to Idashao Pier, covering a distance of approximately 3000 meters, typically around the Mid-Autumn Festival. In 2002, it was officially recognized in the International Swimming Hall of Fame. This year, a total of 1,935 teams from both domestic and international participants, totaling 24,636 individuals, including 317 international swimmers from 33 countries, and 195 members from 61 disabled swimming teams, created a tourism influx of over 50,000 visitors.

With a strong presence in Taiwan for 60 years, Shin Kong Life Insurance has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the community with the motto "Local Shin Kong Life, Authentic Service." They have long encouraged their employees to engage in sports and participate in community events. To this day, they remain the sole life insurance company partnering with the Sun Moon Lake swimming event. In addition, local branches of Shin Kong Life Insurance set up service booths at the event, offering refreshments and hot meals to support the participants. They also provided "Mazu Lucky Travel Bags" and "Mazu Safety Masks," co-designed with Taichung Dajia Zhenlan Temple, as well as Shin Kong Life Insurance's 60th-anniversary balloons as booth giveaways, wishing the participants a successful race and warm support from Shin Kong Life Insurance.

Furthermore, due to the invasive tiger fish species affecting the local ecology of Sun Moon Lake for years, General Manager Huang Min-Yi also participated in the release of president fish fry during the event. The "President Fish," a unique species and delicacy of Sun Moon Lake, saw a successful capture of an exceptionally large specimen measuring approximately 130 centimeters in length and weighing 11 catties, reinforcing the success of tiger fish control. This achievement allows native fish species to thrive, and it is hoped that Shin Kong Life Insurance's long-term commitment will contribute to maintaining ecological balance and diversity at Sun Moon Lake, demonstrating its dedication to national conservation efforts.

In recent years, Shin Kong Life Insurance has actively implemented ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, encouraging public participation in local sports and tourism activities. Apart from the Sun Moon Lake Ten Thousand People Swimming Event in Nantou, they have consistently supported events like the Taichung Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage, Penghu Fireworks Festival, Tainan Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival, Changhua Tianzhong Marathon, Chiayi International Wind Band Festival, and more, to promote local tourism, economic development, and community cohesion. Simultaneously, they organize nationwide charity hikes, Shin Kong Life painting competitions, nationwide blood donations, and Shin Kong Life's "One Acre of Happiness Dining Tables," among other charitable activities, with the goal of fostering common good through diverse means and practicing sustainable social development.
