Shin Kong Life Promotes Prevention of Female Cancers to Care for New Immigrant Women's Health

Breast cancer ranks first in Taiwan among female cancers in terms of incidence and fourth in terms of mortality. Despite the growth in breast cancer screening rates among Taiwanese, it still lags behind countries like Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Shin Kong Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (2888), through its subsidiary Shin Kong Life Insurance, in collaboration with the Shin Kong Life Charity Foundation, is actively involved in promoting women's health. They have partnered with the Breast Cancer Patients Association of the Republic of China and the Kaohsiung Shuangfeng Care Association to conduct seminars on cancer prevention and control at the Kaohsiung Xin-Xing New Immigrant Family Service Center. The aim is to raise awareness among new immigrant women about female cancers and to educate them about their rights regarding insurance and medical care, helping them better adapt and integrate into Taiwanese society.

The "Caring for Breasts, Planting Seeds of Love" project, initiated by the Shin Kong Life Charity Foundation in 2005 in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Patients Association of the Republic of China, aims to train patients to become instructors and spread cancer prevention concepts across all 369 towns and cities in Taiwan. In this event, Ms. Lu Juan, a director of the Kaohsiung Shuangfeng Care Association and a senior patient, shared her experiences and promoted correct cancer prevention concepts and regular screening habits. Shin Kong employees also acted as corporate volunteers, assisting in interactive teaching with breast prosthesis models, enabling the public to learn self-examination techniques for breast cancer. They also utilized their expertise to provide financial education and fraud prevention, enhancing community participation and realizing the spirit of inclusive finance.

The number of new immigrant groups in Taiwan has exceeded one million people. Shin Kong responds to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10, "Reduce Inequality," by cooperating with the Taiwan New Immigrant Family Growth Association to provide interpretation services in various languages such as Vietnamese, Malay, Thai, Indonesian, Burmese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, and English, eliminating communication barriers for new immigrants to access financial and insurance information. Additionally, to cater to diverse groups such as foreign families, indigenous peoples, and new immigrants, Shin Kong organized the "2023 Shin Kong Esports New Light Esports Parent-Child Camp," creating a wonderful time for parents and children to play and learn together, with the hope of building an inclusive society where all groups can develop freely and feel a sense of belonging.
