Shin Kong Life's New Nandon Building Holds Topping-Out Ceremony, Scheduled for Completion in 2028: Creating a Smart Green Building Honored with the National Architecture Gold Award

Shin Kong Life, a subsidiary of TS Holdings (2887), held the topping-out ceremony for the New Nandon Building on the morning of Tuesday, May 12. Wu Tung-liang, Chairman of TS Holdings, served as the officiant. Distinguished guests including Peng Xue-fen, Chairperson of Shin Kong Industries; Mrs. Hsu Hsian-hsian, Wife of the Chairman of Shin Kong Hospital; Wei Pao-sheng, Chairman of Shin Kong Life; Wu Tung-sheng, President of Shin Kong Industries; Joseph Hung, Vice Chairman of Shin Kong Life; Ricky R. Chin, President of TS Holdings; Eric Wu, Chairman of Shin Kong Textile; Hung Shih-chiu, Director of Shin Kong Life; Huang Min-yi, President of Shin Kong Life; Hsu Yi-ming, Architect of Sanyuan United Architects Office; and Hsieh Chi-yeh, Chairman of Fong Yu Joint Engineering, jointly participated in the blessing ceremony to pray for the smooth completion of the project.

Wu Tung-liang stated that the Nandon Building is the most important base for the Shin Kong Group—a place where many Shin Kong affiliated enterprises grew and thrived, serving as a spiritual fortress that unites the group's cohesion and carries on the past while ushering in the future. Upholding the spirit of founder Mr. Wu Ho-su's motto, "To maintain the status quo is to fall behind," we decided to rebuild the Nandon Building on its original site through the Urban Renewal Act for Dangerous and Old Buildings (Dudo Act). Just like TS Holdings' spirit of "Earnestness, Innovation, and Sustainability," the design concepts of green sustainability and smart offices are integrated to breathe new life into the Nandon Building. We hope this building will continue to accompany TS Holdings toward its next milestone and persistently create greater value for society.

The Nandon Building was originally acquired by Shin Kong Life through a tender from the Taiwan Provincial Government in 1972. Built as a 14-story commercial building above ground and 3 stories below, it was completed and opened on July 30, 1979, marking the first building constructed by Shin Kong Life on land it purchased itself since its inception. After 44 years of use, the decision was made to rebuild and recreate the "New Nandon Building" through the Dudo Act, giving the Nandon Building a brand-new life. The New Nandon Building is planned with a total floor area of approximately 9,900 pings, featuring 5 underground levels for parking and 22 floors above ground for commercial and office spaces. Situated right next to MRT Songjiang Nanjing Station—the intersection of the Songshan-Xindian Line and the Zhonghe-Xunlu Line—it enjoys exceptional transportation convenience. It is also designed with a covered arcade to enhance pedestrian walkway connections, creating a user-friendly and safe pedestrian public space. Scheduled for completion in 2028, it is expected to boost commercial activity momentum in the surrounding Nandon business district.

In response to global sustainable development and net-zero transition trends, the New Nandon Building's design targets seven major certifications: Green Building Gold Class, Smart Building Gold Class, Building Energy Efficiency Level 1, Low-Carbon Building Level 1, US LEED/WELL Gold Class certifications, and the Seismic Certification Mark. These measures aim to reduce building energy consumption and practice a low-carbon, healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, this architectural design has been honored with the "Planning and Design Award" at the 24th National Architecture Gold Award, demonstrating Shin Kong's high commitment to building quality, sustainable management, and the ESG spirit.

Shin Kong Life has long been proactive in real estate deployment with diversified operations. Following the merger between Shin Kong Life and Taishin Life, the company currently holds 201 real estate targets across Taiwan, covering approximately 480,000 pings. In 2025, rental income contributed NT$5.2 billion to Shin Kong Life, and rental income for 2026 is expected to exceed NT$5.5 billion. With the gradual completion of old building asset revitalization and the inauguration of newly constructed buildings, it is also expected that the annual growth target will exceed 9% in the future.
