Shin Kong Life Wins Double Awards at the 2023 National Excellence in Construction Awards
Hosted by the Real Estate Development Association of the Republic of China, the 2023 National Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony was held on July 27. Shin Kong Life was honored with the "Best Planning and Design Excellence Award" for the "Nangang Transfer Station Construction and Operation Transfer Project" and received the "Gold Award" for the "Shin Kong Fiber Building." These accolades demonstrate Shin Kong Life's outstanding performance in the design and planning of real estate projects, earning recognition from the industry.
In recent years, Shin Kong Life has actively participated in various government land development projects. The "Nangang Transfer Station Construction and Operation Transfer Project" is an important part of Taipei City's "East District Gateway Project." Covering an area of approximately 1,479 square meters, the project is adjacent to important public facilities such as the Nangang Software Park, the National Biotechnology Park, and the Taipei Pop Music Center. The plan includes a base area spanning three floors and towers with four to nineteen floors each. The base area features a transfer station and small retail shops to meet various user needs. The towers are designated for office spaces, providing diverse options for business use. In the future, it is expected to meet the travel and commercial needs of the greater Taipei metropolitan area, achieving a triple win of public interest, corporate participation, and improved public welfare.
The design of the project incorporates intertwining volumes, giving the impression of emerging from the ground. The upward tapering volumes guide airflow downwards between nearby high-rise buildings, creating a comfortable microclimate. In response to the undulating terrain of Nangang, greenery is incorporated into the design, with transparent glass and soft lighting softening the building's appearance. After completion, it will not only fulfill significant transportation responsibilities but also showcase a new green and low-carbon urban landscape, becoming a prominent highlight of the East District.
The Shin Kong Fiber Building is located in the historic Dadaocheng Special District on Nanjing West Road. The site was originally where Mr. Wu Huo-Shi, founder of the Shin Kong-related institutions, and his fellow townspeople established the Shin Kong Trading Company after the liberation of Taiwan. Engaged in the trading of textiles, tea, sugar, flour, and other commodities, the building was renovated in 1982 as the "Shin Kong Fiber Building." As part of Shin Kong's asset revitalization policy, it has been redeveloped into a fourteen-story office building with four basement levels, incorporating a spindle motif into its design. It serves as an innovative office building that integrates corporate history, urban impressions, the founding industry, and green energy conservation, highlighting the enterprise's spirit of innovation while staying true to its roots. It also passes on traditions while looking to the future, striving to move forward for the next 60 years.
As the J-Plus series of residences and self-owned buildings by Shin Kong Life are completed one after another, ongoing projects such as the Hangzhou North Road land development project, the Kaohsiung Old Central Library land development project, the Nangang BOT project, the Shilin Science Park land project, the Shin Kong South-East Building, and the Shin Kong Fiber Building are actively being developed. They are expected to generate stable rental income annually, with potential for asset appreciation. In the future, Shin Kong Life will continue to implement ESG principles, strengthen green procurement, reduce energy consumption in construction, and promote low-carbon and healthy living, advancing towards the vision of green and sustainable operation.
