Shin Kong Life Protects the Marine Environment, Cultivating Volunteer Divers to Clean Up Ocean Waste

In recent years, climate change and the accelerating pace of global warming have led to drastic changes in the overall environment. To implement environmental sustainability and respond to World Oceans Day on June 8 every year, Shin Kong Life specially recruited 24 corporate volunteers holding Open Water or higher diving licenses, nearly half of whom were senior executives. On June 22, they cleared nearly 100 kilograms of marine debris from the seabed at Dashe Park and the Bat Cave in Ruifang, demonstrating their determination to protect the ocean through concrete actions.

Shin Kong Life has long been committed to caring for environmental sustainability. Since 2023, the company has developed the "Clean Clean Ocean" environmental sustainability project and partnered with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) to jointly launch an Open Water volunteer diver training program. Following the cultivation of 10 corporate volunteer divers last year, the company trained another 14 this year. Combined with the "Dive Against Debris" certification course, the volunteers are trained to dive safely into the sea. Through each ocean cleanup action, they report the types, quantities, and locations of collected trash to marine research institutions, providing reference data to help improve marine ecosystems.

In its efforts to protect the environment, Shin Kong Life not only acts through the "Clean Clean Ocean" initiative but also utilizes diversified sustainable seafood education courses to lead 40 colleagues in understanding the connection between water resources and the land. Conducting volunteer training for sustainable seafood education, frontline returning young fishermen at the Shimen Reservoir personally guided the participants, introducing the sustainable production and dietary value of reservoir fish and organic vegetables. This initiative established a concrete vision and action-oriented identification with the sustainable management of water resources.

Furthermore, through a collaboration with "Citizen Sustainability," Shin Kong Life launched the "Carbon Passbook for All" to encourage the public to implement carbon reduction through online insurance applications. The carbon reduction benefits are then returned to policyholders, allowing them to share a sustainable environment with Shin Kong Life.
